Dale Steyn NFT Collection
Orbit was commissioned by Rundle Management Services & Dale Steyn to design and develop the recently-retired South African cricket star’s NFT collection. Dale is often regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time and the best Test bowler of his generation. Taking this into account, we focused on designing collectables that reflect this pursuit of excellence. Our goal was to produce collectables that are modern, crisp and sophisticated. We applied special attention to materials used in these items, to further illustrate rarity. 4 NFT items were produced in total - 3 playing cards and 1 cricket ball. In addition, a dedicated website was created to showcase this collection. These items were released on OpenSea.
422 Wickets Ball
“The pressure was on for this one, there was a lot of talk and hype as to whether I could break the SA record. Injuries had stalled me, I had to work twice as has hard to come back. So when I broke the record, it was a massive relief. I remember looking up to the commentator booth and proudly acknowledging the previous record holder. I’ll be waiting and cheering for the next.”

“Milestones. Airports. Fans. Jet Lag. Hotels. Buses. Excitement. Practice. Fans. Pain. Work. Training. Teammates. Brothers. Friends. Struggle. Joy. Homesick. Disappointment. New Countries. Crowds. Fans. Coaches. Teachers. Wickets. The ball, in my hand. Again and again. This sport gave me so much and the fans gave me even more, this sport I love and always will.”

100th Wicket Card
“The moment you join the few. The moment you join the greats. The moment you join those you grew up watching. Joining the 100’s club was something I always dreamt about and being able to join the club early on in my career paved the way for what was to come.”

1st Wicket Card
“I’ve taken over 400 test wickets. I don’t remember every wicket, but I remember the first and I always will. We had our backs against the wall, England were 152 for nothing when Graeme gave me the ball. It was the 43rd over and I managed to get one in the right place and beat Marcus between bat and pad. And as they say, the rest is history.”
